As some of you probably know this has been in the works for like 6 months. But a few weeks ago my Friend and I sat down and worked out the firmware and finished the design. I also went and Priced everything out which you can find on the spread sheet linked on the order page and added a paypal buy button. I am not charging for labor so if you buy the parts I'll assemble them for you for free and then send it to you.
This uses the Teensy 2.0 which is not very fast so it was hard to make it work with my retro duo. There is no garuntee that it will be fast enough to work with your console as every console has its own querks and suttle speed differences. In theory there should be no difference between my clone console and the real SNES but only testing can tell. I was thinking of using a teensy 3.1 but I am just a programmer and not a electronics guy so I have no idea what to do with the voltage differences.
Have fun and order soon (prices don't like to go down)
I have used puush to upload screenshots with the press of one or two keys and I have loved it for a while. I recently decided that with my new webserver I could make my own puush like system. I googled different solutions and found an open source program called ShareX which allows you to have custom uploaders (It allows you to upload to sites other than puush or one that you specify yourself). Having just learned html, css, php, and mysql myself I wanted to try and make something very similar to puush and the result I think is pretty awesome. I made a custom upload php script for images, files, text files, and links (for link shortenting) I also added a symlink (columna1.com/l/xxxx) for links. The script makes a 4 digit uuid and uses that for the filename/id of the content. I then went to work adding an interface using php, mysql, and html. The result is as follows.
When you first go to the site you are greeted with a login page
The page is very simple and barebones. I didn't need much.
Once you log in you are greeted with your content page
From here you can look at what you have uploaded so far and/or remove them.
You can also go into settings to see your custom upload key (not shown for obvious reasons) and change your passwords
I have two different kinds of accounts, regular users and admins. I am an admin and as such I have an extra tab called "users". This allows me to add new users, change user's passwords, delete accounts, or view their own uploaded content
I have it set up so that I can copy a link and press two buttons to shorten the link instantly.
I love this system and I have a friend that im going to set up a similar system for.
The system is invite only and I will not accept random people because of space issues on my webserver. (also security issues and the like)
About a year or two ago I went to a goodwill store near here right around christmas time. I was looking around in the electronics section when something caught my eye. Under a bunch of other stuff I saw what looked like a ti-83. At that point I was very excited so I picked it up, took the cover of it, and found out that it was a ti-89! I was estatic! I then turned it over and saw the price tag and my jaw almost fell off. $15 was all it was marked at. I ran to my grandmother and had her buy it as it was an amazing deal.
That also reminds me of a good deal I had a year or two before that at a local pawn shop. I went in around christmas time and looked around and saw a ti-83+ in the display case. I went up to the guy who was behind the counter and asked him how much it was and he said "Hey kid, I'll give it to you for $20" I then made my mom buy it as soon as possible before the guy changed his mind (which he couldn't do anyways). Although, as we walked out I could hear someone, his manager perhapse yell at the poor guy because the calculator was supposed to be $80 and the guy didn't know.
On the topic of awesome finds, let me post about some awesome finds I have gotten in the past.
A few months ago my mom was surfing craigslist and found a post about a pile of stuff on the side of the road. One of the items listed was a "server". Not knowing what to do my mom asked me and I made her drive out to look at it. I found it and loaded it up into the trunk, we also got a maglight, awesome ipod dock speaker system, and an easy bake oven (for my brother). We got it home and I plugged it in, and what do you know. It worked... fully. It has 6gb of ram, 1.6tb of storage space with 6 drives and hardware raid, 2 xenon 3.x ghz processors. and everything worked! That was one amazing find but I don't run the server now. It's too noisy to run in my house and I have nowhere else to put it as it needs a decent internet connection. As for now it will sit on top of my dresser waiting for the day it is needed.
I stumbled upon an ad on Craigslist a couple of weeks ago. He had quite a few things listed but something caught my eye. He had a 2TB external hard drive for $35. I emailed him to see if he still had it as it had been a whole month since he posted the add and it turned out that he did. I then asked him to wait because I could not immedietly get a ride and he did. He was kind and waited about two weeks before I could go out to buy it. That was a steal!
So last Saturday I went out with my friend and we drove the hour trip out there to buy it and I got it! When I got home I immedietly plugged it in preparing to format it but then I decided to look around in it and what do you know the guy didn't wipe it. Then BAM, I found 1.6TB of movies. Full length feature films. 1,686 of them... I had scored. I now plan to give some movies to a local bus driver for his buses to show to his customers on long rides, I plan to use the movies on long rides for my scout troop's bus, and my friend has taken as many as he can fit on his hard drives. I'm so excited about this hard drive and the great deal I found. Every once in a while I'll get a deal and I'll post about it in my blog. Thanks for reading!
